MLK CommUNITY Breakfast Returns January 16, 2026
Building Connections & Honoring Legacy Through Youth Leadership and Community Collaboration
LINCOLN, Neb. — The Belmont Community Center, in partnership with Bryan College of Health Sciences and the Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Rally, invites the Lincoln community to gather with purpose at the reimagined MLK CommUNITY Breakfast: Building Connections & Honoring Legacy on Friday, January 16, 2026, at the Firefighters Reception Hall, 241 Victory Ln., Lincoln, NE.
An eagerly anticipated, long standing community tradition, the breakfast returns as a meaningful space for reflection, connection, and action, honoring Rev. Dr. King Jr.’s legacy while calling the community forward in shared responsibility. Doors open at 7:00 a.m., with breakfast and community engagement followed by a 7:30–8:30 a.m. program centered on legacy, leadership, and lived experience.
The program will feature scholarship recognition, legacy acknowledgements, and a keynote titled From Stories to Solutions by Reem Ahmed. Her words will challenge attendees to see lived experience as a catalyst for action, inspiring individuals to move beyond awareness and into advocacy, compassion, and meaningful change. Proceeds from the breakfast will directly support scholarships that expand learning opportunities, exploration, and connection for youth.
The MLK CommUNITY Breakfast serves as a precursor to a series of community celebrations, including the 31st Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Rally on Monday, January 19, 2026. Together, these experiences reflect King’s mission with intention—rooted in reflection, commitment, and culminating in youth voice and action under the 2026 theme, “The Audacity to Walk in Love.”
Individual breakfast tickets are $25, with event and table sponsorships available. Tickets may be purchased at

The community is encouraged to attend, engage, and be part of carrying the legacy forward on Friday, January 16, 2026.
